Staind

Staind is an alternative rock band from Springfield, Massachusetts, they have been active since 1995 but there big break came in 2001 when they released the singles ‘It’s Been Awhile & ‘Outside’ from the album “Break the Cycle”.

I have never seen them live on stage but I hope to see them live when they come to Europe. The first I heard of the band was the song “Mudshovel” from the album “Dysfunction”. The original line up was Aaron Lewis as lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Mike Mushok lead guitarist, Johnny April bass and backing vocals and on the drums Jon Wysocki who left the band on 2011. He was replaced by Sal Giancarelli.

What made me love their music is the aggressiveness in their music and cool lyrics. Staind is a band that just want to make music and not interested how they look. An attitude that a lot of their fans love and that’s why they are still around. After the release there self-titled album (2011) the band has been together sporadic doing some shows.

Staind after 2011.

At the moment Aaron Lewis is focused on his solo project into country music and Mike Mushok joining Saint Asonia. So I would say that Staind is on a status of hiatus until they confirm they are going to record a new record and hit the road again. The lead vocalist Aaron Lewis has said that the band is not broken up and you can agree with that because they toured on 2019 and 2020. To those who love aggressive music and cool lyrics you should check them out.

Staind albums.

They released some great albums but the critics where writing and talking about their new releases missing the aggressive edge they had before. The question was why where they not releasing albums like “Tormented”, “Dysfunction” and “Break the Cycle”.

The albums are: Tormented (1996), Dysfunction (1999), Break the Cycle (2001), 14 Shades of Grey (2003), Chapter V (2005), The Illusion of Progress (2008), Staind (2011) and Two live albums (2012 & 2021).

Staind self-titled metal album of 2011.

The answer was there self-titled album of 2011. The album was well received and if you check out there documentary when they were recording the album you could see that the guys needed a break from each other.

I don’t agree completely what the press wrote about the other albums after “Break the Cycle”, because there were some good songs on there. But the self-titled album of 2011 brought the edge back.

I really hope they put their heads together and bring a new album out and go on tour. I still listen to their music and have these songs on my playlist. I raise the horns for them, love the band and I will wait patiently for new music and a tour announcement. \,,/
